Kenneth R. Adams started his career as a public servant in 1976 when he joined the U.S. Army. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1979 Kenny worked is various area outside of the public sector. Kenny rejoined the ranks of public service when he was hired as a fire fighter for the city of East Cleveland, Ohio in 1985. After serving over 20 years as a fire fighter Kenny went on to works in multiple capacities as a public administrator with the Cites of East Cleveland, Cleveland and Berea, all in Ohio. Kenny has served over 30 years as a Fire Fighter, Fire Chief, and as the Director of Public Safety, Senior Services, Public Works, Building and Housing and Personnel. During the early years of his career he also spent time representing the union workers as the Vice President for The Northern Ohio Fire Fighters Association and as a Staff Representative for AFSCME. Wearing so many hats over the years has left Kenny with the ability to view issues from both the labor and management side of things.
Guided by the strong leaders of B-Force, the East Cleveland chapter of the IABPFF, Kenny joined the International within the first week of becoming a fire fighter. Kenny went on to serve in many capacities within the IABPFF from being the local chapter president to serving 10 years as the International’s parliamentarian. Kenneth Adams now has the honor and privilege of serving the membership as the Executive Director. Kenny will serve the IABPFF with the belief that “a rising tide lifts all boats”. By increasing the IABPFF’s national and internationals footprint we will become a stronger organization and take our place along side of the other organizations who fight for equal rights.
Kenneth R. Adams retired from public service in September 2017 and is currently living in the Charlotte NC area with his wife of 35 years. Kenny is also very proud of his three adult children who are pursuing careers in difference areas throughout the country and his two grandchildren.
